Professional Counselling Education and Training
My formal educational background includes two degrees. I earned a Master’s degree in Counselling from the University of Ottawa. I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at Mount Allison University in Sackville, NB. I am an active certified member in good standing with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I am also a licensed Counselling Therapist with the College of Counselling Therapists of New Brunswick. People ask me how many years experience that I have been counselling. I usually say over 15 years, however, it is really closer to 20 years. I have worked with Francophone and Anglophone families, couples and individuals in many settings. Former employment settings include Family Service Moncton, the New Brunswick Teacher’s Association as well as private practice. I work with several companies that provide Employee Assistance Programs. My professional experience includes facilitating countless workshops in the areas of stress management, team building, balancing family and work life, wellness and communication.
My approach to counselling is “practical solutions for real people”. I like to give people strategies that they can take home to start applying right away, when possible. My theoretical framework comes from the following models: person-centered, solution focused, strength based and cognitive behavioural therapy, focusing, gestalt, body-centered approaches, mindfulness as well as aboriginal healing.
My informal training and studies have centered on natural, holistic and spirit based approaches. I have a diploma in Natural Healing and Masters in Reiki. I have studied with energy healers and recently completed the Litios Light Priest Practitioner training with Litios Canada.
More and more people seem to be open to alternate and spiritual ways of healing. Now I am offering Chakra and Aura Harmonization sessions to resolve energetic blockages and to raise personal consciousness.
